Gary Thomas

Speciality: MB, BCh (1981) and FRCA (1985)

Gary is a Consultant Anaesthetist at The Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, Wales. He graduated from The Welsh National School of Medicine and following house jobs underwent anaesthetic training at hospitals in Wales, London and Melbourne. His main clinical interests are anaesthesia for vascular surgery, critical care medicine and enhanced recovery. Other interests include critical incident medical simulation and postgraduate teaching and training. He is a former Royal College of Anaesthetists Primary and Final FRCA examiner.

In January 2012 Gary was appointed as Primary FRCA Section Editor. Since then the MTF question bank has been modernized and updated with the introduction of single best answer (SBA) format questions. In January 2013 he commenced the task of editing and writing multiple-choice questions for a new Final FRCA question resource, which was launched in December of that year. Gary is committed to improve the quality, reliability and accuracy of the questions and hopes that in future, a subscription to Onexamination will be an essential step in preparation for the written papers.
