The following patients have all presented with hernias.

A 24-year-old Caucasian man presents with a right groin swelling
of three months' duration. He is otherwise fit, takes regular
exercise and has no past medical history of note. His clinical
examination is unremarkable aside from confirmation of his
hernia.
A 20-year-old Afro-Caribbean man with bilateral inguinal
hernias. His haemoglobin count is 11 gm/dl with a normocytic
normochromic pattern.
A 28-year-old man is admitted for the repair of a left inguinal
hernia. He regularly uses recreational drugs administered
intravenously.
A 20-year-old woman is to undergo right femoral hernia. She
previously had severe bleeding after a dental extraction.
