Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a common presentation in primary care and their recognition is important if appropriate advice, infection control and treatment are to be instituted. Although often seen in STI clinics, this may not be convenient or immediate enough for the patient and consequently primary care are increasingly involved in the management of the condition.
