Investigation and Management of Osteoporosis

This module will run you through the typical clinical cases of osteoporosis and interpretation of DEXA allowing you to assess your knowledge on data interpretation, differential diagnosis and treatment.

This module will allow you to:

• Correctly identify patients that would require referral for dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).
• Correctly interpret DEXA data including knowing how to diagnose osteopaenia and osteoporosis.
• Understand and interpret clinical guidelines relating to treatment of osteopaenia and osteoporosis in both males and females.
• Understand the use of specific therapies for the treatment of disorders of bone demineralisation.
