Question of the Day

Test your knowledge on our question of the day based on themes similar to the October 2010 AKT, including topic areas where candidates may have previously performed poorly.

Theme:Metabolic problems

You see a 27-year-old man who has been having recurrent episodes of genital thrush.

He is clearly overweight and you measure his BMI which is 42.
He had some blood tests performed recently which show a fasting venous glucose of 6.8 on one occasion and 6.6 on another.

In order to investigate this further you request an HbA1c measurement.

1.

What HbA1c value is compatible with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus?
